Is sunbathing safe for people of all ages?
Yes, sunbathing is safe for most age groups. The only exception for sunbathing is for a newborn below the age of 1. A newborn's skin is very sensitive and direct exposure to sunlight may be dangerous.
However, even for a newborn baby, sunbathing in diffused/indirect sunlight while looking away from the sun is beneficial.
In the modern world, children are recommended to wear many layers of clothing, and thus their skin never gets a chance to be exposed to fresh air or sunlight. This negatively affects the health of the child.
