What is the correct method to make juice?

Here is a simple 3-step guide you should follow while preparing your juices for the fast:


  1. Make sure whatever fruits / vegetables you use are seasonal. Out of season produce tends to have more chemicals and pesticides.  
  2. Use cold press juicers that extract juice by first crushing and then pressing fruit and vegetables for the highest juice yield. As they don’t produce as much heat, they keep more of the nutrients intact, leading to a high-quality juice. However, if you don't have one, you can also use a blender to prepare the juice.
  3. Do not add any condiments like salt, black pepper, jaggery, chaat masala, or ice to your juice. You can add some lemon juice, ginger, mint, and coriander instead.
  4. Consume your juice within 15 minutes of its making.
  5. "Chew" your juice. Don't gulp it down. "Chewing" means squishing it in your mouth for 10-15 seconds before swallowing it.
