Doesn’t wet cotton pack reduce the fire in the stomach if applied after lunch?
No. There is not an actual fire burning in our stomach that would extinguish by pouring water on it. There are two types of fires - One type of fire is on which you cook your food. Second type of fire is the heat inside our body which gives a temperature of 98.4 degrees and digests our food. This is called jatharagni in Ayurveda. There's a huge difference between the two fires. The second fire is not the kind of fire that would extinguish by applying water on it. Instead, when you apply wet pack on your stomach after lunch, the blood circulation in that area increases, and hence the food gets digested faster.
