How much water should I have during the fast?
Always remember - you must listen to your body and drink water when you're thirsty. There is no fixed amount that we must consume throughout the day as it varies from person to person based on their lifestyle.
Our requirement of water may go down during a fast. There are two reasons for this:
a) The fresh vegetables juices are very hydrating and fulfil the requirement of liquids in our body.
b) We are not consuming solid food, so there is no intake of salt, spice, oil or white sugar. The salt, spice, sugar and oil content in our food dehydrates us and increases our requirement for water.
However, try and consume about 2-3 litres of water apart from the juices. This will enable the cleansing process. Please have water sip by sip and do not gulp it down. Additionally, it is best to have room temperature water or cool water stored in an earthen jar or terracotta bottle.
